Corrections Amendment (Firearms) Regulations
2014
The Governor with the advice of the Executive Council
makes the following Regulations:

1 Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the
Corrections Regulations 2009 to repeal provisions
relating to use of firearms by escort officers and
prescribe types of non-lethal firearms able to be
used by escort officers in prisons as a
consequence of the enactment of the Corrections
Legislation Amendment Act 2014.
2 Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 112 of
the Corrections Act 1986.
3 Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on 1 May
2014.

4 Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Corrections Regulations
20091 are called the Principal Regulations.
5 Regulation 8 substituted
For regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations
substitute—
"8 Non-lethal firearms
For the purpose of section 55EC of the Act, a
prescribed non-lethal firearm is a tear gas
gun or projector.".
6 Regulation 10 revoked
Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations is
revoked.
