Defamation Order 2011
I make the following order under
section 35(3) of the
Defamation Act 2005
. 20 June 2011 BRIAN WIGHTMAN Minister for Justice
1.
Short title
This order may be cited as the
Defamation Order 2011 .
2.
Commencement
This order takes effect on 1 July 2011.
3.
Interpretation
In this order
Act
means the
Defamation Act 2005 ;
maximum damages amount
has the same meaning as in
section 35(1)
of the Act.
4.
Maximum damages amount
For the purposes of
section 35(1)
of the Act, the maximum damages amount that is to apply from 1 July 2011 is declared to be $324 000. Displayed and numbered in accordance with the
Rules Publication Act 1953 . Notified in the Gazette on 29 June 2011 This order is administered in the Department of Justice.
