Defamation Order 2023
I make the following order under section 35(3) of the
Defamation Act 2005 . 24 May 2023 ELISE ARCHER Minister for Justice
1.
Short title
This order may be cited as the
Defamation Order 2023 .
2.
Commencement
This order takes effect on 1 July 2023.
3.
Maximum damages amount
For the purposes of
section 35(1) of the
Defamation Act 2005
, the maximum damages amount that is to apply from 1 July 2023 is declared to be $459 000. Displayed and numbered in accordance with the
Rules Publication Act 1953 . Notified in the Gazette on 7 June 2023 This order is administered in the Department of Justice.
