Road Safety (Vehicles) Amendment (Heavy Vehicle
Fees) Regulations 2012
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1 Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the
Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2009 to
prescribe annual heavy vehicle registration fees
from 1 July 2012.
2 Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of
the Road Safety Act 1986.
3 Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on 1 July
2012.
4 Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Road Safety (Vehicles)
Regulations 2009 1 are called the Principal
Regulations.

5 Annual registration fees from 1 July 2010 to 30 June
2011
In clause 9 of Schedule 4 to the Principal
Regulations, for "Act" substitute "Schedule".
6 Capping of previous method of determining fees
(1) In the heading to Part 3 of Schedule 4 to the
Principal Regulations, for "2011" substitute
"2012".
(2) In the heading to clause 10 of Schedule 4 to the
Principal Regulations, for "after 30 June 2011"
substitute "from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012".
(3) In clause 10 of Schedule 4 to the Principal
Regulations, for "any financial year after 30 June
2011" substitute "the 2011-2012 financial year".
7 New Part 4 of Schedule 4 inserted
After clause 10 of Schedule 4 to the Principal
Regulations insert—
"PART 4—FEES FROM 1 JULY 2012
10A Annual registration fees from 1 July 2012
to 30 June 2013
The annual registration fee for a vehicle
to which this Schedule applies for the
2012-2103 financial year is the amount
calculated for the vehicle in accordance with
the relevant Tables to this clause.

The fee is calculated using the
formula: $365 + ($365 × Number
of axles over 2).
10B Annual registration fees after 30 June
2013
The annual registration fee for a vehicle to
which this Schedule applies for any financial
year after 30 June 2013 (the relevant
financial year) is to be calculated as
follows—
(a) The annual registration fee that was
payable for the vehicle for the financial
year immediately preceding the
relevant financial year (the previous
annual registration fee) is to be
multiplied by the Annual Adjustment
Factor percentage determined for the
relevant financial year;
(b) The result is to be added to or, if the
percentage was negative, subtracted
from the previous annual registration
fee;
(c) The result is to be rounded up or down
to the nearest whole dollar amount
(rounding an amount of 50 cents
upwards).
