Zoological Parks and Gardens (Fees) Amendment
Regulations 2011
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1 Objectives
The objectives of these Regulations are to amend
the Zoological Parks and Gardens Regulations
2003 —
(a) to exempt children under 16 years of age
from paying a fee or charge for entry to the
Healesville Sanctuary, the Melbourne Zoo or
the Werribee Zoo on Saturday, Sunday,
public holidays or school holidays; and
(b) to increase the maximum fees payable for
entry into zoological parks.
2 Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 41 of
the Zoological Parks and Gardens Act 1995.

3 Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on 1 July
2011.
4 Definition
In regulation 5(1) of the Zoological Parks and
Gardens Regulations 20031 insert the following
definition—
"public holiday means any day appointed as a
public holiday under the Public Holidays
Act 1993;".
5 New regulation 12A inserted—exemption from fees
After regulation 12 of the Zoological Parks and
Gardens Regulations 2003 insert—
"12A Exemption from payment of entry fees—
child (under 16 years of age)
On any Saturday, Sunday, public holiday or
school holiday on which the Healesville
Sanctuary, the Melbourne Zoo or the
Werribee Zoo is open to the public, children
under 16 years of age are exempt from
paying the fee or charge (if any) for entry
determined under this Part.".
6 Amendments to Schedule 3
In the Table in Schedule 3 to the Zoological Parks
and Gardens Regulations 2003—
(a) in column 3 of item 1, for "$24.90"
substitute "2·08 fee units";
(b) in column 3 of item 2, for "$12.40"
substitute "1·03 fee units";
(c) in column 3 of item 3, for "$6.10" substitute
"$6.23";
(d) in column 3 of item 4, for "$56.80"
substitute "4·75 fee units";

Fee Units
These Regulations provide for fees by reference to fee units within the
meaning of the Monetary Units Act 2004.
The amount of the fee is to be calculated, in accordance with section 7 of that
Act, by multiplying the number of fee units applicable by the value of a fee
unit.
The value of a fee unit for the financial year commencing 1 July 2011 is
$12.22. The amount of the calculated fee may be rounded to the nearest
10 cents.
The value of a fee unit for future financial years is to be fixed by the
Treasurer under section 5 of the Monetary Units Act 2004. The value of a
fee unit for a financial year must be published in the Government Gazette and
a Victorian newspaper before 1 June in the preceding financial year.
