No. 103/2009 Wildlife Act 1975 Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2009 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 1 September 2009 Responsible Minister: GAVIN JENNINGS Minister for Environment and Climate Change TOBY HALLIGAN Clerk of the Executive Council 1 Objectives The objectives of these Regulations are to amend the Wildlife Regulations 2002— (a) to remove the prohibition on the keeping and trading of young tortoises and turtles; and (b) to increase the taxa of wildlife that may be kept by holders of certain wildlife licences; and (c) to increase the taxa of wildlife that may be kept by members of the general public without needing to obtain a wildlife licence; and (d) to enable certain taxa of wildlife to be kept under less restrictive wildlife licences; and (e) to clarify which taxa of Red-tailed Black Cockatoo may be kept by holders of certain wildlife licences. -- 2 of 8 -- S.R. No. 103/2009 Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2009 2 2 Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 87 of the Wildlife Act 1975. 3 Commencement These Regulations come into operation on 1 October 2009. 4 Wildlife that is not self-sufficient (1) In regulation 12(1)(a)(v) of the Wildlife Regulations 2002 1 , for "egg; or" substitute "egg.". (2) Regulation 12(1)(b) of the Wildlife Regulations 2002 is revoked. 5 Amendments to Schedule 3 (1) In Schedule 3 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Birds" omit— (a) "Stubble Quail Coturnix pectoralis"; and (b) "Crested Pigeon Ocyphaps lophotes"; and (c) "Emerald Dove Chalcophaps indica"; and (d) "Common Phaps chalcoptera"; Bronzewing and (e) "Hooded Parrot Psephotus dissimilis"; and (f) "Long-billed Corella Cacatua tenuirostris"; and (g) "Twenty-eight Barnardius zonarius Parrot semitorquatus"; and (h) "Scaly-breasted Trichoglossus Lorikeet chlorolepidotus"; and r. 2 -- 3 of 8 -- S.R. No. 103/2009 Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2009 3 (i) "Musk Lorikeet Glossopsitta concinna". (2) In Schedule 3 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Birds", for the entry relating to "Eclectus Parrot" substitute— "Eclectus Parrot Eclectus roratus macgillivrayi"; (3) In Schedule 3 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Reptiles", after the entry relating to "Pored Earless Dragon" insert— "Southern Angle-headed Hypsilurus spinipes". Dragon 6 Amendment to Part A of Schedule 4 In Part A of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Birds", for the entry relating to "Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo" substitute— "Red-tailed Black- Calyptorhynchus Cockatoo banksii (all taxa except (all taxa except South-eastern) graptogyne)". 7 Amendments to Part B of Schedule 4 (1) In Part B of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Reptiles"— (a) after the entry relating to "Beaked Gecko" insert— "Centralian Knob- Nephrurus amyae tailed Gecko Prickly Knob-tailed Nephrurus asper Gecko Golden-tailed Gecko Strophurus taenicauda r. 6 -- 4 of 8 -- S.R. No. 103/2009 Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2009 4 Rough-throated Leaf- Saltuarius tail Gecko salebrosus No common name Saltuarius swaini"; (b) after the entry relating to "Frilled Lizard" insert— "Boyd's Forest Dragon Hypsilurus boydii Downs Bearded Pogona Dragon henrylawsoni"; (c) omit the entry relating to "Southern Angle- headed Dragon"; (d) after the entry relating to "Green Tree Python" insert— "Pygmy Python Antaresia perthensis Rough-scaled Python Morelia carinata"; (e) after the entry relating to "Brown Tree Snake" insert— "Arafura File Snake Acrochordus arafurae". (2) In Part B of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Mammals"— (a) after the entry relating to "Red Kangaroo" insert— "Black-striped Wallaby Macropus dorsalis Quokka Setonix brachyurus Long-nosed Potoroo Potorous tridactylus Brush-tailed Bettong Bettongia pencillata Plains Rat Pseudomys australis Spinifex Hopping- Notomys alexis mouse r. 7 -- 5 of 8 -- S.R. (3) In Part B of Schedule 4 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Amphibians", after the entry relating to "Northern Dwarf Tree Frog" insert— "Magnificent Tree Frog Litoria splendida". 8 Amendments to Part B of Schedule 5 In Part B of Schedule 5 to the Wildlife Regulations 2002, under the heading "Birds"— (a) after the entry relating to "Alexandra's (Princess) Parrot" insert— "Hooded Parrot Psephotus dissimilis Twenty-eight Parrot Barnardius zonarius semitorquatus"; (b) after the entry relating to "Double-barred Finch" insert— "Stubble Quail Coturnix pectoralis"; (c) after the entry relating to "Rainbow Lorikeet" insert— "Scaly-breasted Trichoglossus Lorikeet chlorolepidotus Musk Lorikeet Glossopsitta concinna r. 8 -- 6 of 8 -- S.R.
