Human Tissue Act 1982
Human Tissue Regulations 2006
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objectives
The objectives of these Regulations are to
prescribe—
(a) institutions within which authorised schools
of anatomy may be conducted; and
(b) tissue banks that may recover costs in
accordance with section 39A of the Human
Tissue Act 1982.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 46 of
the Human Tissue Act 1982.
3. Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on
13 February 2006.

4. Revocation
The Human Tissue (Prescribed Institutions)
Regulations 1997 1 are revoked.
5. Prescribed institutions
For the purposes of section 35(1) of the Human
Tissue Act 1982, the following are prescribed
institutions—
(a) La Trobe University;
(b) Monash University;
(c) Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology;
(d) The University of Melbourne.
6. Prescribed tissue banks
For the purposes of section 39A(1) of the Human
Tissue Act 1982, the following are prescribed
tissue banks—
(a) Austin Hospital Tissue Bank;
(b) Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria;
(c) Douglas Hocking Research Institute Bone
Bank;
(d) Kathleen Cunningham Consortium for
Research into Familial Breast Cancer
(KconFab);
(e) Lions Corneal Donation Service Melbourne;
(f) Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria
Tissue Bank;
(g) Mercy Tissue Engineering Tissue Bank;
(h) Monash Medical Centre Tissue Bank;
(i) Monash Tissue Culture Laboratory
Chondrocyte Tissue Bank;
(j) Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Tissue
Bank;

(k) Victorian Brain Bank Network Tissue Bank;
(l) Victorian Breast Cancer Research
