AMENDMENT
THIS matter coming on for hearing before the Commission at Brisbane on 28 April 2003 and 14 May 2003, this Commission orders that the said Award
be amended as follows as from 1 August 2003:
1. By inserting a new clause 1.5 (Definitions) as follows:
“1.5 Definitions
The “Act” means the Industrial Relations Act 1999 as amended or replaced from time to time.
“Chief Executive” means a person as prescribed in the Ambulance Act 1991 or for the purposes of this Award such other person to whom the
Chief Executive has delegated specific authorities.
“Commission” means the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

“Communications Officer” or “Calltaker/Dispatcher” means an employee who receives and actions messages concerning ambulance operations
and coordinates ambulance and patient movements in accordance with Queensland Ambulance Service policy and procedures.
“Communications Centre Supervisor” or “Team Leader” means an employee in charge of a work unit of Communications Officers.
“Employee” means a person employed by the Queensland Ambulance Service for whom rates of pay and conditions are provided in this Award.
“Paramedic” means an employee who has satisfactorily completed the Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Ambulance) or recognised
equivalent.
“Paramedic Advanced Care” means an employee who has satisfactorily completed the Diploma of Health Science (Pre-Hospital Care); or the
Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Ambulance) and the In Service Continuing Education Program Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4; or recognised
equivalent.
“Paramedic (Intensive Care)” means an employee who has satisfactorily completed the Advanced Diploma of Health Science (Advanced Pre-
Hospital Care) or recognized equivalent.
“Paramedic Student” means an employee enrolled in the Diploma of Health Science (Pre-Hospital Care).
“Patient Transport Officer” means an employee who performs work in the non-emergency pre-hospital environment.
“Station Officer” means an employee remunerated at the level of Station Officer 1, 2, 3 or 4.
“Union” means the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union, Queensland Branch, Union of Employees.”.
2. By deleting subclause (1) of clause 3.3 and inserting the following in lieu thereof:

The rates of pay in this clause comprise the minimum rates payable under this Award.
The rates incorporate adjustments based upon the Queensland Ambulance Service Enterprise Partnership Agreement 1999 (CA340 of 1999) and
the AFCOM Enterprise Partnership Certified Agreement 2000 (CA604 of 2000).
The rates include the arbitrated wage adjustment payable under the 1 September 2002 Declaration of General Ruling and earlier Safety Net or
arbitrated wage adjustments.”.
