QUEENSLAND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION
Industrial Relations Act 1999 – s. 473 – approval for other name amendment
Finance Sector Union of Australia, Bank Employees Section Queensland Branch,
Industrial Union of Employees (No. U12 of 1999)
VICE PRESIDENT LINNANE 22 December 1999
REPORT ON DECISION (as edited)
In giving a decision from the Bench on 15 December, 1999, Vice President Linnane said:–
“Having read the application, noting that in schedule 2 to the application, Mr Lynch and Ms Burke have indicated that the amendment to the
organisation’s name has been proposed in accordance with the organisation’s rules, and having also taken into account the fact that the change of
name was advertised in the Courier Mail on 18 June 1999, and there was no formal objection taken to the change of name, and having formed the
view that the proposed amendment to the organisation’s name is not so similar to another organisation’s name as to be likely to cause confusion and
it is not the same as another organisation’s name, I find that the requirements of s. 473 of the Industrial Relations Act 1999 have been met.
I thus approve the amendment to the organisation’s name from the Finance Sector Union of Australia, Bank Employees Section Queensland Branch,
Industrial Union of Employees to the Finance Sector Union of Australia, Queensland Branch, Industrial Union Employees. The approval shall take
effect as and from today’s date pursuant to s. 475 of the Act.”
By the Commission,
[L.S.] E. EWALD,
Industrial Registrar.
