DECISION On 31 March 1999 Agforce Queensland lndusuial Union of Employers lodged with my Office un der section 53 of the Industrial Organisations Acr 1997 the information as pre scribed in section 53 of the Industrial Organisations Regulation 1997 in relation to its request for the conduct of an election by the Electoral Commission of Queensland for the following positions of. Office Number of Posi1ions Council Member - Regional Representative Reg ion A Region R Region C Region D Region E Council Member - Commodity Council Presidents Cattle Council Sheep and Wool Council Grains Council The boundaries of the various regions have been determined by th e Organisation. Reason for Election 5 4 5 3 2 These offices have been newly created as a consequence of the recent registration of the Organisation. I find that the infonnation was not filed within the time frame prescribed by the Act. Notwithstanding this. I have exercised my discretion and extended the prescribed time for fi ling such information to 31 March 1999. Method of Election. f am satisfied tl1e elec tion is to be by way o fa preferential voting system (Rule 47) by secret postal ballot of the members as indicated above. The result of the election to be decided as per Ru le 63 of the Organisation ·s Ru les. Conduct of Election: I have considered the reques t, the Act. and !lie Rules of the Organisation, and am satisfied that an election is required to be held for these positions whi ch are offices within the meaning of the Act. Therefore, under section 53 of the Industrial Organisations Act 1997. I am making arrangements for the conduct of the election for the above positions by the Electoral Commission of Queensland.
