No. 83/2003 Cancer Act 1958 Cancer (BreastScreen Victoria Registry) Regulations 2003 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 1 July 2003 Responsible Minister: BRONWYN PIKE Minister for Health HELEN DOYE Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objectives The objectives of these Regulations are to prescribe— (a) certain examinations and tests as cancer tests; and (b) the BreastScreen Victoria Registry as the prescribed register of results of tests for cancer of the breast— for the purposes of Part III of the Cancer Act 1958. 2. Authorising provisions These Regulations are made under sections 60 and 62 of the Cancer Act 1958. -- 2 of 5 -- S.R. No. 83/2003 Cancer (BreastScreen Victoria Registry) Regulations 2003 2 3. Revocation The Cancer (BreastScreen Register) Regulations 19941 are revoked. 4. Definition In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Cancer Act 1958. 5. Prescribed cancer test and register (1) For the purposes of the definition of "cancer test" in section 59 of the Act and for the purposes of sections 60 and 62 of the Act, mammography and subsequent radiology, pathology and clinical examinations and tests are prescribed. (2) For the purposes of the definition of "prescribed register" in section 59 of the Act in relation to a cancer test referred to in sub-regulation (1), the register known as the BreastScreen Victoria Registry maintained by Breast Screen Victoria Inc. (formerly known as Victorian Breast Screening Coordination Unit Inc.) is a prescribed register. 6. Register of results for cancer of the breast For the purposes of prescribing a register of results from a cancer test under section 62 of the Act, it is specified that— (a) the name of the register is the BreastScreen Victoria Registry; (b) the register is of results of mammographic screening, subsequent radiology, pathology and clinical tests and examinations and assessment of women for cancer of the breast; (c) the organisation that maintains the register is Breast Screen Victoria Inc.; r. 3 -- 3 of 5 -- S.R.
