Union of Employees sought variation to the Indu strial Agreement incl uding the implementa ti on of a 38 hour week . That po rt ion of the application in relation to the 38 hour wee k was referred to a Full Bench in accordance with the Commissi on's Principles. The matter was delegated to Commissioner Edwards for consideration and report to other members of the Full Bench. This app licat ion was the subject of hearings on 25 May. 18 July and 3 October 1995 before Commissioner Edwards. At the heari ng on 3 October 1995 the panics subm itted to Commissioner Edwards a consen t document incorporating the cost minimisation proposals reached for a 38 hour week. We have had the opportun ity to read the transcript and we accept that the cost min imisation proposals satisfy the Principles of the Commission and warrant the granting of a 38 hour week. We approve the implementation of a 38 hour week as from 2 January 1996. The remaining matters will be dealt with by Commissioner Edwards. We order accordingly. K.L. EDWARDS. Commissioner. G.K.
