The Commission understands the variation so effected will be an interim arrangement whilst longer tenn issues conceming paid rates awards for all Council workers in the context of award rationalisation are addressed. The Commission understands that there will need to be some further variations which reflect the membership of The Electrical Trades Union of Employees of Australia, Queensland Branch (ETU). What I propose to do is to vary the award as from today's date, I I October 1994, su bj ect to th e ETU advising its position within 14 days of today, and provided everything goes according to plan, the necessary variations which affect the ETU membership will also be approved as and from today's date. The parties are to submit to my Associate within 14 days a Schedule setting out the correct rates. I would ask for a copy to be provided to Mr Roberts so he can verify the ra tes from the ETU's point of view. The ETU are also required to provide a draft setting out their proposed variations in accordance with this decision. The Commission orders accordingl y. ". Dated this eleventh day or October. I 994. REPORT ON DECISION (AS EDITED) In giving her decision from the Bench, Commissioner Fisher said the following:- "ln order to settle the dispute which was notified as 1)46 of 1994, the Commission proposes to move of its ovm motion under section 144( I) of the /nduslrial Re/a/ions Act 1990 to vary Schedule 3 of the Engineering A ward - State in the terms agreed between the Automotive. Metals and Engineering Industrial Union of Employees, Queensland (A MEU) and the Brisbane Ci ty Council earlier in this conference ie, the rates will represent the addition of base rates and over award payments.
