Note 2 The Interim Supplementary Pa yment at each classification level incl udes the $8.00 adjustment reflecting the application of the arbitrated Safety Net Adjustmen t Pr inciple enunciated in the February I 994 Review of Wage Fixing Principles. Consisten t with the requirements of that principle the $8.00 Safety Net Adjustment is absorbable to th e extent of any e qu ivalent amo un t in rates of pay - whether overaward, award, industrial agreement or c<::rtified agreement - in excess of the minimum rates {classi fic ation rate and supplementary payment) prescribed in accordance with the October 1989 State Wage Case decision and adj usted in accordance with the July 1991 State Wage Case decision. 'Ov eraward' Payment' is defined as the amount in rates of pay which an employee would receive in excess of the minimum award wage as prescribed in th is Award fo r t he classification in wh ich su ch emp loyee is engaged which applied immediately prior lo the dale of opera ti on of t hi s variation: Provided that 1hi s defin iti on shall exc lu de overtime. shifl a ll owances, penally rates, expense re lated allowances, indus1ry a ll owances. disability allowances. vacation allowances, special rates or allowan ces, responsi bil ity allowances, or any other anci ll ary payments of a like nature described by this Award No le 3 The wage rate for the classifications in Group H con tained as al 19 Ap riL 1994, an 'over-award' component. therefore in line with the Industria l Commission's Principles, th e $8 .00 per week Safety Net Adj ustment has been absorbed into the existing rate by a $0.21 per ho ur red uct ion in the base rate.'' .
