Note 2 - The supplementary payment at each classificat io n includes an $8.00 adjustment reflecting th e application of the arbitrated safety net adjustment principle enunciated in the Fe bruary 1994 Review of Wage Fixing Principl es . Consistent w ith the requ iremen ts of that Principle 1he $8.00 safety net adjustment is absorbable to the extent of any equivalent amount in rates of pay - whether overaward, award, industrial agreemen t or cert ifi ed agreement - i n excess of the mi nimum ra tes (base/classi fica ti on rate and supplementary payment) prescribed in accordance w ith the October 1989 State Wage Case decision and adjusted in accordance w ith the Ju ly 1991 State Wage Case decision. 'Overaward' payment is defined as the amount in r ates of pay wh ich an employee would receive in excess of the mi nimum award wage as prescribed in this Industrial Agreement for the classification in which such employee is engaged which applied im media te ly prior to the date of operation of this variation: Provided that th is definition shall exclude overtime, shi ft allowances, penalty rates, expense related allowances, industry allowances, disability al lowances, vacat,on allowances, special rates or al lo wances, respons ibil ity allowances, or any other ancillary payments of a like nature described by this Industri al Agreement.".
