A ll owance is payable on the Base Salary only (e xcluding any and all allowances). 2.1 The allowance is ex cl uded from t he ca lcul at io n of superannuati on, overtime, recreation leave loading and the penalty incurred by the abs ence. 2.2 The allowance is included in sa lary for Workers' Com pe nsation clai ms. 3. l eave - 3. 1 On recrea ti on leave or c ash equival en t thereof, t he allowance is payable in full and no penalty incurred for abse nce. 3.2 On long servi ce leave or cash equi va l en t the reof, accrued on and subsequen t to 19 August 199 1, th e operati ve date of the bl ock p ay sys te m, the allowance is payable in full and no pe na lty incur red for ab sence. l ong se rv i ce leave or cash equivalent thereof, acc ru ed prior to 19 August 1991 sha ll incur the penal ty. 3.3 On Wo rke rs ' Compen sat ion leave t he allowance is not payable and no penalty is incurred for abse nce. 3.4 If t he officer above is absent on si ck leave for eighty (8 0) ho urs then t he offi ce r woul d be deducted 80 x 3 1.188% of the hourly rate: 80 x $3.605 • $288.40 wh ich eq u ates to the permanent sh ift allowance. Therefo re, for each absence, regardless of on wh i ch day i t fa l ls, 31.188% of an officer 's ho urly ra te wil l be deducted for each hour abse nt. Note that th ese negative penalties only apply for th e fi rst eighty (80) ho urs of continuous leave as were the previous arrangements.
