No. 106/2003 Tobacco Act 1987 Tobacco (Grands Prix Events) Regulations 2003 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 23 September 2003 Responsible Minister: BRONWYN PIKE Minister for Health SUDHA KASYNATHAN Acting Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objective The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe the restrictions which are to apply to the advertising of tobacco products at the 2003 Skyy Vodka Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island and the 2004 Foster's Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. 2. Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 43 of the Tobacco Act 1987. 3. Definitions In these Regulations— "Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix" means— (a) the 2003 Skyy Vodka Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix; or -- 2 of 5 -- Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents S.R. No. 106/2003 Tobacco (Grands Prix Events) Regulations 2003 2 (b) a function or event associated with the 2003 Skyy Vodka Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix— to be held at Phillip Island at any time on or after 17 October 2003 and before 20 October 2003; "Australian Grand Prix" means— (a) the 2004 Foster's Australian Grand Prix; or (b) a function or event associated with the 2004 Foster's Australian Grand Prix— to be held at Albert Park at any time on or after 4 March 2004 and before 8 March 2004. 4. Restriction of Displays at Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix Displays of the whole or part of a trademark or brand name of a tobacco product or the name of the manufacturer or distributor of a tobacco product in connection with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix comply with section 10(1) of the Tobacco Act 1987 if the displays are restricted to— (a) signs or objects— (i) on or within the site of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix; or (ii) on the outside of any road, sea or air vehicle used in the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix or on any participant in the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix— that are permitted by section 18 of the Tobacco Advertising Prohibition Act 1992 of the Commonwealth; and r. 4 -- 3 of 5 -- Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents S.R. No. 106/2003 Tobacco (Grands Prix Events) Regulations 2003 3 (b) the period from and including 12 October 2003 to and including 22 October 2003. 5. Restriction of Displays at Australian Grand Prix Displays of the whole or part of a trademark or brand name of a tobacco product or the name of the manufacturer or distributor of a tobacco product in connection with the Australian Grand Prix comply with section 10(1) of the Tobacco Act 1987 if the displays are restricted to— (a) signs or objects— (i) on or within the site of the Australian Grand Prix; or (ii) on the outside of any road, sea or air vehicle used in the Australian Grand Prix or on any participant in the Australian Grand Prix— that are permitted by section 18 of the Tobacco Advertising Prohibition Act 1992 of the Commonwealth; and (b) the period from and including 27 February 2004 to and including 9 March 2004. 6.
