No. 87/2002 Racing Act 1958 Racing (Bookmakers) Regulations 2002 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 24 September 2002 Responsible Minister: ROB HULLS Minister for Racing HELEN DOYE Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objectives The objectives of these Regulations are to— (a) authorise persons who may witness the signing of certificates of registration for bookmakers and bookmakers' clerks; (b) prescribe the form of certificates of registration for bookmakers and bookmakers' clerks. 2. Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Racing Act 1958. 3. Commencement These Regulations come into operation on 26 September 2002. 4. Revocation The Regulations listed in Schedule 1 are revoked. -- 2 of 7 -- S.R. No. 87/2002 Racing (Bookmakers) Regulations 2002 2 5. Definition In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Racing Act 1958. 6. Authorised witness For the purposes of section 90(1) of the Act, a person is authorised to witness the signing of a certificate of registration as a bookmaker or a bookmaker's clerk, if the person— (a) is authorised under the Evidence Act 1958 to witness the signing of a statutory declaration; and (b) personally knows the person to whom the certificate has been issued. 7. Certificate of registration as a bookmaker For the purposes of section 86(3) of the Act, the prescribed form for a certificate of registration as a bookmaker is Form A in Schedule 2. 8. Temporary certificate of registration as a bookmaker For the purposes of section 86(3) of the Act, the form for a temporary certificate of registration as a bookmaker is Form B in Schedule 2. 9. Certificate of registration as a bookmaker's clerk For the purposes of section 87(3) of the Act, the prescribed form for a certificate of registration as a bookmaker's clerk is Form C in Schedule 2. __________________ r. 5 -- 3 of 7 -- S.R.
