No. 12/2001 Pathology Services Accreditation Act 1984 Pathology Services (Exempted Tests) Regulations 2001 The Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Pathology Services Accreditation Board, makes the following Regulations: Dated: 27 February 2001 Responsible Minister: JOHN THWAITES Minister for Health HELEN DOYE Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objective The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe exempted tests and non-regulated tests for the purposes of the Pathology Services Accreditation Act 1984. 2. Authorising provisions These Regulations are made under sections 30A and 40 of the Pathology Services Accreditation Act 1984. 3. Exempted tests For the purposes of section 30(3) of the Pathology Services Accreditation Act 1984, the tests specified in the Schedule are exempted tests. -- 2 of 4 -- S.R. Non-regulated tests For the purposes of section 30A of the Pathology Services Accreditation Act 1984, the exempted tests specified in items 14, 15 and 19 of the Schedule are prescribed to be non-regulated tests. 5. No. 12/2001 Pathology Services (Exempted Tests) Regulations 2001 3 SCHEDULE (Regulation 3) EXEMPTED TESTS 1. Tests for occult blood. 2. Haemoglobin estimation. 3. Haematocrit estimation. 4. White cell count. 5. Differential white cell count. 6. Screening of blood film. 7. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate. 8. Microscopic examination of urine and urinary sediment. 9. Initial Gram staining prior to further cultural examinations and report by an accredited pathology service. 10. Microscopic examination for fungi in skin, hair or nails. 11. Microscopic examination of wet film. 12. Culture of micro-organisms by means of dipslide or microbiological kit for detection of the presence of bacteria in urine. 13. Examination of seminal fluid for the presence of spermatozoa. 14. A macroscopically read analysis performed on urine for the detection of pregnancy. 15. Blood glucose using chemical test strips. 16. Huhner's test. 17. Screening for rheumatoid factor by latex agglutination. 18. Screening for infectious mononucleosis by latex agglutination. 19. Screening tests on urine by test strips or simple urinalysis. 20. Mantoux test. ═══════════════ Sch. -- 4 of 4 --
