Tobacco (Grands Prix Events) Regulations 2000
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe
the restrictions which are to apply to the
advertising of tobacco products at the 2000
Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island
and the 2001 Australian Grand Prix at Albert
Park.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 43 of
the Tobacco Act 1987.
3. Definitions
In these Regulations—
"Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix" means—
(a) the 2000 Qantas Australian Motorcycle
Grand Prix; or

(b) a function or event associated with the
2000 Australian Motorcycle Grand
Prix—
to be held at Phillip Island at any time on or after
27 October 2000 and before 30 October 2000;
"Australian Grand Prix" means—
(a) the 2001 Qantas Australian Grand Prix;
or
(b) a function or event associated with the
2001 Qantas Australian Grand Prix—
to be held at Albert Park at any time on or
after 1 March 2001 and before 5 March
2001.
4. Restriction of displays at Australian Motorcycle
Grand Prix
(1) Displays of the whole or part of a trademark or
brand name of a tobacco product or the name of
the manufacturer or distributor of a tobacco
product in connection with the Australian
Motorcycle Grand Prix comply with section 10(1)
of the Tobacco Act 1987 if the displays are
restricted to—
(a) signs or objects on or within the site of the
Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix; or
(b) signs or objects on the outside of any road,
sea or air vehicle used in the Australian
Motorcycle Grand Prix or on any participant
in the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix—
that are permitted by section 18 of the Tobacco
Advertising Prohibition Act 1992 of the
Commonwealth.
(2) A display referred to in sub-regulation (1) must
not occur before 20 October 2000 or after
1 November 2000.

5. Restriction of displays at Australian Grand Prix
(1) Displays of the whole or part of a trademark or
brand name of a tobacco product or the name of
the manufacturer or distributor of a tobacco
product in connection with the Australian Grand
Prix comply with section 10(1) of the Tobacco
Act 1987 if the displays are restricted to—
(a) signs or objects on or within the site of the
Australian Grand Prix; or
(b) signs or objects on the outside of any road,
sea or air vehicle used in the Australian
Grand Prix or on any participant in the
Australian Grand Prix—
that are permitted by section 18 of the Tobacco
Advertising Prohibition Act 1992 of the
Commonwealth.
(2) A display referred to in sub-regulation (1) must
not occur before 23 February 2001 or after
7 March 2001.
6. Expiry
These Regulations cease to have any force or
effect on 31 March 2001.
