No. 87/1999 Tobacco Act 1987 Tobacco (Labelling) Regulations 1999 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 29 June 1999 Responsible Minister: ROB KNOWLES Minister for Health STACEY ROBERTSON Acting Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objective The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe labelling requirements for retail packaging of tobacco for the purposes of section 11 of the Tobacco Act 1987. 2. Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 43 of the Tobacco Act 1987. 3. Revocation The Tobacco (Cigarette Packaging Labels) Regulations 1993 1 are revoked. 4. Labelling of tobacco products For the purposes of section 11 of the Tobacco Act 1987, packages in which tobacco prepared for smoking is sold, or intended to be sold, by retail must be labelled in accordance with the provisions -- 2 of 4 -- S.R. No. 87/1999 Tobacco (Labelling) Regulations 1999 2 of the Trade Practices (Consumer Product Information Standards) (Tobacco) Regulations 1994 of the Commonwealth, other than regulations 2(1), 5 and 18, and as if in regulation 17(7) of the Regulations, the references to "according to the testing methods specified in regulation 18" and "according to those testing methods" were revoked. ═══════════════ r. 4 -- 3 of 4 -- S.R.
