(Temporary Exemptions) Regulations 1998
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to declare
certain laws of Victoria relating to electrical
equipment to be exempt from the operation of the
Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 of
the Commonwealth as adopted by the Trans-
Tasman Mutual Recognition (Victoria) Act
1998.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 5 of the
Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition (Victoria)
Act 1998.
3. Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on 1 May
1998.

4. Temporary exemptions relating to electrical
equipment
The following laws are, for the purposes of
section 46 of the Commonwealth Act as adopted
by the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition
(Victoria) Act 1998, declared to be exempt from
the operation of the Commonwealth Act to the
extent that they relate to electrical equipment—
(a) Part V of the State Electricity Commission
Act 1958 except sections 47, 48, 49, 50, 55
and 56;
(b) the Electrical Approval Regulations 19941 ;
(c) the State Electricity Commission (Energy
Efficiency Labelling) (Dishwashers for
Domestic Use) Regulations 1988 2 ;
(d) the State Electricity Commission (Energy
Efficiency Labelling) (Refrigerative Air
Conditioners) Regulations 19883 ;
(e) the State Electricity Commission (Energy
Efficiency Labelling) (Rotary Clothes
Dryers) Regulations 1989 4 ;
(f) the State Electricity Commission (Energy
Efficiency Labelling) (Clothes Washing
Machines) Regulations 1990 5 ;
(g) Orders in Council made under section 57 of
the State Electricity Commission Act 1958.
5. Expiry
These Regulations cease to have any force or
effect on 30 April 1999.
