No. 22/1997 Gas Industry Act 1994 Gas and Fuel Corporation (Gas Installation) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 18 March 1997 Responsible Minister: ALAN STOCKDALE Treasurer A. Objectives The objectives of these Regulations are— (a) to insert the definitions of Type A gas installation and Type B gas installation into the Principal Regulations; and (b) to make changes to the Principal Regulations consequential on recent amendments made to the Building Act 1993. 2. Authorising provisions These Regulations are made under section 102 and section 105 of the Gas Industry Act 1994. 3. Commencement These Regulations come into operation on 24 March 1997. 4. Principal Regulations -- 2 of 6 -- S.R. No. 22/1997 Gas and Fuel Corporation (Gas Installation) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 2 In these Regulations, the Gas and Fuel Corporation (Gas Installation) Regulations 19921 are called the Principal Regulations. 5. Amendment of regulation 6 In regulation 6 of the Principal Regulations— (a) in the definition of "authorised person" for "Building Control Act 1981" substitute "Building Act 1993"; (b) in the definition of "licensed authorised person" for "an authorised person endorsed in Plumbing (Gasfitting) under section 93 of the Building Control Act 1981" substitute "a person licensed under section 221M of the Building Act 1993 to carry out gasfitting work"; (c) after the definition of "rated working pressure" insert— ' "residential or light commercial building" means— (a) a Class 1a building; or (b) a single dwelling, if it is the only dwelling, in a Class 5 or Class 6 building (except a service station); or (c) a Class 6 building (except a service station)— within the meaning of the Building Regulations 1994;'; 2 -- 3 of 6 -- S.R. No. 22/1997 Gas and Fuel Corporation (Gas Installation) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 3 (d) after the definition of "Type A appliance" insert— ' "Type A gas installation" means a gas installation— (a) which contains only Type A appliances; and (b) in which the total gas consumption of the appliances does not exceed 500 MJ per hour; and (c) in which the length of consumer piping from the meter or regulator to the furthest appliance does not exceed 50 metres; and (d) which is in or in respect of a residential or light commercial building;'; (e) after the definition of "Type B appliance" insert— ' "Type B gas installation" means a gas installation which is not a Type A gas installation.'. 6. Revocation of regulation 13 and Schedule 3 (1) Regulation 13 of the Principal Regulations is revoked. (2) Schedule 3 of the Principal Regulations is revoked. 7. Amendment of regulation 15 In regulation 15 of the Principal Regulations omit "13 or" (where twice occurring). r. 6 -- 4 of 6 -- S.R. Amendment of regulation 19 After regulation 19(2) of the Principal Regulations insert— "(3) This regulation only applies to gas installation work on a Type B gas installation.". 9. Amendment of regulation 20 In regulation 20 of the Principal Regulations— (a) in sub-regulation (1), omit "or (3)"; (b) sub-regulation (3) is revoked. ═══════════════ r. 8 -- 5 of 6 -- S.R.
