No. 144/1996 Dental Technicians Act 1972 Dental Technicians (Advanced Dental Technicians) Regulations 1996 The Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Advanced Dental Technicians Qualifications Board makes the following Regulations: Dated: 3 December 1996 Responsible Minister: ROB KNOWLES Minister for Health A. Objectives The main objectives of these Regulations are to prescribe the form of the Advanced Dental Technicians Register and the fees payable to the Advanced Dental Technicians Qualifications Board and to regulate advertising by advanced dental technicians. 2. Authorising provisions These Regulations are made under sections 19, 26, 26A and 32 of the Dental Technicians Act 1972. -- 2 of 6 -- S.R. No. 144/1996 Dental Technicians (Advanced Dental Technicians) Regulations 1996 2 3. Definition In these Regulations— "the Act" means the Dental Technicians Act 1972. 4. Advanced Dental Technicians Register In addition to the particulars in section 19(1) of the Act, the Advanced Dental Technicians Register must contain— (a) the date the licence was granted to the advanced dental technician; and (b) the number of the licence; and (c) whether the licence has been endorsed by the Board under section 26A of the Act and the date of any endorsement. 5. Approved courses of training For the purposes of section 21(c) of the Act, approved courses are courses approved by the Board at institutions listed in Schedule 1. 6. Fees The fees payable to the Board under sections 19, 26 and 26A of the Act are set out in Schedule 2. 7. Control of conduct An advanced dental technician, in relation to his or her practice as an advanced dental technician, must not advertise, or permit any person to advertise on his or her behalf, in a way which— (a) is false, deceptive or misleading; or r. 3 -- 3 of 6 -- S.R. No. 144/1996 Dental Technicians (Advanced Dental Technicians) Regulations 1996 3 (b) disparages another dental technician or advanced dental technician, or dental technicians or advanced dental technicians generally. Penalty: First offence: 10 penalty units. Subsequent offence: 20 penalty units. 8. Notification of address or partnership An advanced dental technician must notify the Board in writing within 21 days after— (a) any change in his or her residential or business address; and (b) the entering into any partnership with— (i) another advanced dental technician; or (ii) a dental technician; or (iii) a dentist.
