No. 77/1996 Firearms Act 1958 Firearms (Exemption No. 1) Regulations 1996 The Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's Deputy with the advice of the Executive Council makes the following Regulations: Dated: 6 August 1996 Responsible Minister: BILL McGRATH Minister for Police and Emergency Services A. WILTSHIRE Acting Clerk of the Executive Council 1. Objective The objective of these Regulations is to exempt Police Force recruits from the provisions of Part III of the Firearms Act 1958 in certain circumstances. 2. Authorising provision These Regulations are made under section 49(1) of the Firearms Act 1958. 3. Exemption provision An offence is not committed against Part III of the Firearms Act 1958 by any person undergoing recruit training in the Police Force if that person— (a) is receiving instruction in the use of a pistol by or under the personal supervision of a member of the Police Force; and -- 2 of 3 -- S.R.
