i Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 No. 4 of 2007 TABLE OF PROVISIONS Section Page PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 1 Purpose 1 2 Commencement 2 PART 2—PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES ACT 2003 3 3 Establishment of Joint House Committees 3 4 Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee 3 5 Rural and Regional Committee 3 6 Membership of Joint Investigatory Committees 3 7 New section 66 inserted 4 66 Transitional provision—2007 Act 4 8 Statute law revision 4 PART 3—PARLIAMENTARY SALARIES AND SUPERANNUATION ACT 1968 5 9 Additional salary 5 PART 4—REPEAL OF AMENDING ACT 6 10 Repeal of Act 6 ═══════════════ ENDNOTES 7 -- 1 of 8 -- 1 Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 † No. 4 of 2007 [Assented to 20 March 2007] The Parliament of Victoria enacts: PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 Purpose The purpose of this Act is— (a) to amend the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 so as to— (i) rename the Economic Development Committee as the Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee and alter its functions; and Victoria -- 2 of 8 -- Part 1—Preliminary Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 No. 4 of 2007 2 (ii) rename the Rural and Regional Services and Development Committee as the Rural and Regional Committee; and (iii) increase the maximum number of members of a Joint Investigatory Committee; and (b) to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 so as to— (i) remove the requirement that the Third Party must have at least 4 members of the Council before its Leader in the Council is entitled to additional salary; and (ii) provide for an increased amount of additional salary for the Chairperson of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee and the Chairperson of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee and an entitlement to additional salary for the Deputy Chairperson of each of those Committees. 2 Commencement This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. __________________ s. 2 -- 3 of 8 -- Part 2—Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 No. 4 of 2007 3 PART 2—PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES ACT 2003 3 Establishment of Joint House Committees In section 5 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003— (a) in paragraph (b) after "Development" insert "and Infrastructure"; (b) in paragraph (j) omit "Services and Development". 4 Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee (1) In the heading to section 8 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 after "Development" insert "and Infrastructure". (2) In section 8 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003— (a) after "the Economic Development" insert "and Infrastructure"; (b) for "or industrial affairs" substitute ", industrial affairs or infrastructure". 5 Rural and Regional Committee (1) In the heading to section 16 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 omit "Services and Development". (2) In section 16(1) of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 omit "Services and Development". 6 Membership of Joint Investigatory Committees In section 21(1) of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 for "9" substitute "10". LawToday: www. legislation. vic.gov.au s. 3 -- 4 of 8 -- Part 2—Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 No. 4 of 2007 4 7 New section 66 inserted After section 65 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 insert— "66 Transitional provision—2007 Act Despite section 29, evidence taken by a Committee specified in column 1 of the Table (the former committee) before the end of its term on the expiry of the Assembly in 2006 and in relation to which the former committee had not before the end of that term made a report to the Parliament may be considered by the Committee specified opposite the former committee in column 2 of the Table. Table Column 1 former committee Column 2 successor committee Economic Development Committee Rural and Regional Services and Development Committee Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee Rural and Regional Committee ". 8 Statute law revision Part 7 of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 is repealed. __________________ s. 7 -- 5 of 8 -- Part 3—Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 Parliamentary Legislation Amendment Act 2007 No. 4 of 2007 5 PART 3—PARLIAMENTARY SALARIES AND SUPERANNUATION ACT 1968 9 Additional salary In the Table to section 6 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968— (a) after the item relating to Parliamentary Secretary of the Cabinet insert— " Chairperson of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee 20 "; (b) in the item relating to the Leader of the Third Party in the Council omit "if at least 4 Members of the Third Party are Members of the Council"; (c) after the item relating to Parliamentary Secretaries insert— " Chairperson of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee 15 "; (d) in the item relating to Chairperson of Joint Investigatory Committee after "Committee" insert "(other than the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee or the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee)"; (e) after the item relating to Chairperson of joint select committee insert— " Deputy chairperson of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee and deputy chairperson of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee 4 ". __________________ See: Act No. 7723.
