Purposes The purposes of this Act are— (a) to repeal the Melbourne Sailors' Home Act 1986; and (b) to close the Sailors' Welfare Fund established under that Act; and (c) to provide for the transfer of all money standing to the credit of the Sailors' Welfare Fund to the Consolidated Fund. Commencement (1) Subject to sub-section (2), this Act comes into operation on a day to be proclaimed. (2) If this Act does not come into operation before 1 July 2006, it comes into operation on that day. 3. Repeal The Melbourne Sailors' Home Act 1986 is repealed. 4. Sailors' Welfare Fund (1) On the coming into operation of this Act— (a) the Sailors' Welfare Fund is closed; and (b) all money standing to the credit of the Sailors' Welfare Fund must be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
